Q&A with Lakais Delaine
Q: Why are you passionate about family homelessness?
A. I grew up very similar to a lot of our clients. I got to where I am because people assisted me. That's where my passion grew from and why I do what I do. I believe in paying it forward, and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a sustainable life - even if they need assistance.
Q: What are you excited to bring to the Family Promise Team?
A: New ideas. Also, continuing to do the traditional core work that Family Promise has been doing since 1998 in this community. I'm excited to bring best practices and fresh ideas to Family Promise that can help us generate our income and continue to allow us to serve the clients that we've been tasked to serve.
Q: What are you liking about Chattanooga so far?
A: I like the cultural diversity I've noticed in the city and businesses. I like that it has a small-town, welcoming feel even though it's a big area.
Q: What else do you want people to know?
A: We're opening up our home satellite shelter soon for families. We're going to start small with under 10 families. The community has rallied around us with gracious donations and support. We want the community to know we're still here and serving the clients, but we can't do that without their generous donations and help.
