Job Opening: Director of Development (Exempt Position)

The Director of Development is responsible for creating fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, writing grant proposals and submitting grant reports. This position manages individual and corporate gifts, as well as annual giving. It also includes leveraging key relationships and contacts to ensure meeting the organization’s revenue goals. Accountability: The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director

Working Hours: 40 hours per week. Some weekend and evening hours may be required, rarely

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate and foundation sponsors, congregations, and individual donors

  • Collaborate with staff and the board on the planning and implementation of fundraising events and donor receptions

  • Write grant proposals and ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to corporate, foundation, and government funders

  • Develop social media posts, monthly e-newsletters, annual reports, appeal letters, and print marketing material related to fundraising in collaboration with our communications consultants

  • Represent Family Promise to the public

  • Coordinate development luncheons with board of trustees

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field

Qualifications:

  • 3- 5 years' fundraising experience with a nonprofit organization; emphasis on grant writing and corporate sponsorships, preferred

  • Familiarity with Kindful donor management software, preferred

  • Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and a thorough understanding of strategic development

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts

  • Strong community engagement, partnership-building, and event planning skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary range of $35,000 to $45,000 per year, commensurate with experience
