The Camp Out 2015
Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga hosted our seventh annual “Camp Out” on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 8 at 7 a.m. on UTC’s campus at the Lupton Library Parking Garage!
This year’s Camp Out featured our traditional entertainment including our namesake Box City Challenge in which teams envision and create their own Box City living spaces. Of course there was a scavenger hunt, games, music and crafts, and volunteers will be on hand to serve up sandwiches, coffee, hot chocolate, sodas, popcorn, and fruit all through the evening and into the night.
In the morning campers will ate a light breakfast.
Police security was present during the entire event.
Together we raised over $16,000 for our families!
Youth groups, families, volunteers and other campers learned what it’s like to be homeless by building their own cardboard box living space in Box City (or just by bringing their own camping equipment), spending the night outdoors in an “urban campground” setting and eating food similar to what is provided to the homeless in our community at a soup kitchen.
Prizes were awarded for the best box cities built by a group or individual and for the most pledges raised by a group.
2015 Ticket Costs:
• Youth, Church, Scout, or other groups – $12.50 per person
• Individual campers – $25 per camper
• Families or groups of up to four people – $60
• Each additional camper with a family or group of four- $12.50
• No pets, please
